As Body Art becomes increasingly more popular in our community, San Mateo County Environmental Health recognizes the importance of our established routine inspection program for Body Art Establishments, and annual registration requirements for Body Art Practitioners.
The San Mateo County Body Art Ordinance No. 04285 was adopted with the intention of promoting safe, healthy practices to benefit the Body Art Community, practitioners and recipients alike. There is no administrative or enforcement driven distinction between temporary and permanent body art practitioners in San Mateo County.
Upon registration, the body artist will be issued a registration card which is valid for one year from date of issuance and allows the artist to practice within San Mateo County at any permitted body art establishment.
