Keynote Speaker: Dr. Richard Jackson

Luncheon and Facilitated Discussion
Dr. Richard Jackson is a distinguished public health official and expert on the damaging effects that our “super sized” society has on our lives. He has served as California’s Public Health Officer, Senior Advisor to the Director for the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions, as well as the Director of the National Center for
Environmental Health. Dr. Jackson’s message gives new perspective of the role our built environment has on our health and inspires a call to action to build a more livable San Mateo County.
Last month, Prince Charles made an historic visit to the United States and the San
Francisco Bay Area. Prince Charles left not only with a high regard for the beer in
Bolinas, but more importantly for the inspiring work of California’s distinguished public health official, Dr. Richard Jackson, Professor of Environmental Health at the University of California’s School of Public Health.  (See article)
Prince Charles invited Dr. Jackson, co-author of “Urban Sprawl and Public Health:
Designing, Planning and Building Healthy Communities,” to bring his thoughtful
message to England. Dr. Jackson’s trip to England conflicts with the County’s January 24th luncheon at the Expo Center, San Mateo. Registrations for the January 24th event will be honored in March. Please look forward to receiving an invitation and new details for the March 2006 luncheon event. You won’t want to miss this important international figure!
