Next Steps   Thursday, June 29, 2006 8:30 am to 12:30 pm The San Mateo County Health Department, the California Department of Health Services, and the Center for Physical Activity are pleased to invite you to "Designs for Healthy Living Workshop: An Interactive Event Connecting the Built Environment and Health in San Mateo". This workshop will offer more tools on how to change the built environment to improve health outcomes. Flyer Invitation   Due to summer scheduling conflicts, the More Livable Work Group will meet on Friday, August 4, 2006, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in the Board Chambers, Redwood City. The More Livable Work Group will review, prioritize and develop a community action plan with an implementation timeline for the more livable strategies.   The lively 45-minute discussion that immediately followed the provocative presentation on the damaging effects of the built environment by Dr. Richard Jackson, resulted in the 35 small works groups identifying more than 50 actions that can be taken by the community and individually to improve San Mateo County’s livability. Your help is needed to rank and prioritize the too numerous next steps. To assist you in this effort, the actions have been organized into categories. Please review the recommendations and email your rankings of the top three next steps that you believe should be under taken to promote the health of the community.   E-mail us your rankings of the top 3 next steps   On April 4, 2006, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors considered a resolution to undertake comprehensive review of the “livability” of County planning and zoning ordinances.
