San Mateo County Latex Paint Program was established in 1991 to recycle water-based paint that has been collected through the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program.  We usually have about 1,000 gallons available each week.  The recycled exterior latex paint is given away free-of-charge at our Product Give-Away Program  Warehouse.  The recycled paint is available for individual residents, government agencies, special groups and non-profits, as well as for international donations.  Businesses needs may be considered on a case-by-case basis. In general, the paint is available in five-gallon buckets, is limited to 25 gallons per resident; and is typically available in these colors:  off-white, light beighe/tan, dark brown and gray.  Greens or reds may be create don a case-by-case basis. For individual residents, please follow the procedures below: You must be 18 years or older with a valid I.D. Fill out a Request for Paint Form; either download and print it, or obtain one at the Give-Away. Obtain a Number Card (and Request for Paint Form, if needed) from the HHW staff when you arrive. When your Number is called, turn in the card with the completed form and valid I.D. to the HHW staff. Send us a photograph of the finished paint job!
