MENTAL HEALTH SUMMIT TO FOCUS ON SERVICES TO MULTI-CULTURAL COMMUNITIES IN CALIFORNIA

SAN MATEO, Calif. -- The 14th Annual Cultural Competence and Mental Health Summit (CCMHS) will be held on November 8 and 9 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport in Burlingame. Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Solano Counties and the City of Berkeley are sponsoring this year's Summit. Keynote speakers include Carmela Castellano-Garcia, Esq.; Kenneth Hardy, PhD; Holly Echo-Hawk, MA; and Nolan Zane, PhD. During the two-day Summit, presenters will discuss strategies for transforming large organizations and for successfully collaborating with clients, consumers and diverse communities.

The conference was originally formed in 1993, to address issues arising from mental health service delivery to multi-lingual and multi-cultural communities. Over the years, CCMHS has served to showcase state-of-the-art approaches in cultural competence development and health disparity identification and reduction. This year's program will present a broad spectrum of expert community, client and professional voices. The California State Department of Mental Health's Office of Multicultural Affairs, the California Institute for Mental Health's Center for Multicultural Development, and the Ethnic Services Committee of the California Mental Health Director's Association will also contribute significantly to the agenda.

The Summit is open to the public, and the registration fee is $295. For more information, go to http://www.cimh.org/training/liveconferences.cfm.
