SAN MATEO COUNTY BUSINESSES ASKED OPINIONS ABOUT HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM
San Mateo, Calif. -- Beginning this week, EMC Research will conduct a 15-minute telephone survey of 250 San Mateo County businesses on behalf of the San Mateo County Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Coverage Expansion. The Task Force hopes to learn about health insurance benefits currently offered by employers and any anticipated changes to those offerings, and to gauge support for a local health policy reform that enables employers to share in the financing of the expansion. EMC Research expects to complete the survey in eight days.
EMC will also be conducting key informant interviews with businesses leaders to better understand the challenges they face in providing health benefits to their employees. The survey results and interviews will factor into the final recommendations of the Task Force that will be presented to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
###
In response to the growing number of uninsured adults in San Mateo County, the Board formed the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Coverage Expansion on June 26, 2006. The charge of this group was to explore options for providing comprehensive healthcare access and/or insurance coverage to uninsured adults in San Mateo County living at or below 400 percent of Federal Poverty Level and to bring recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. The Task Force's preliminary recommendations are posted on the Web at: http://www.co.sanmateo.ca.us/adulthealthcarecoverage.
