| The Arts Commission consists of five members, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, each residing in one of the supervisorial districts. The members of the Commission are : |

The Commission was formed to promote and encourage the arts, to serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors, to prepare and update the county’s strategic and cultural plan and act as a liaison with arts organizations to ensure collaboration and coordination related to culture and art activities in San Mateo County.
The County Arts Commission is partnering with Peninsula Arts Council for the curation of three galleries in County facilities.

The Caldwell Gallery features the works of local professional artists and is located on the first floor of the Hall of Justice, 400 County Center, Redwood City, CA 94063. Gallery hours are M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Rotunda Gallery features the works of local sculptors from the Peninsula Sculptor's Guild and is located in the lobby of 555 County Center, Redwood City, CA 94063. Gallery hours are M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sculpture is available from outside the building as well.

The County Arts Commission is also partnering with Artsopolis, an online resource that features art events in San Mateo and allows artists (who have registered for free) to advertise their own events.
The Commission develops annually a budget and workplan.
