The County has over 600 different job classifications in the following categories:   Skilled Crafts Service and Maintenance Office/Administrative Paraprofessional Protective Services Technical Professional Management   For more information on these classifications, view the job classifications by alphabetical listing.   Skilled Crafts Skilled Craft occupations perform jobs that require special manual skill and a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the processes involved in the work which is acquired through on-the-job training and experience, apprenticeship or other formal training programs. Automotive Mechanic, Carpenter, Stationary Engineer, Road Equipment Operator, and Building Inspector are some classifications belonging to this category. Service and Maintenance Service and Maintenance occupations perform duties that result in or contribute to the comfort, convenience, hygiene or safety of the general public or that contribute to the upkeep and care of buildings, facilities, or grounds of public property. Workers in this group may operate machinery. Custodian, Utility Workers, Road Maintenance Worker, and Park Rangers are some classifications belonging to this category. Office/Administrative Office/Administrative occupations are responsible for internal and external communications, recording and retrieval of data and/or information and other paperwork required in an office. Office Assistant, Fiscal Office Assistant, Executive Secretary, Public Services Specialist, Legal Secretary, Medical Records Technician, and Patient Services Assistant are some of the classifications belonging to this category. Paraprofessional Paraprofessional occupations perform some of the duties of a professional or technician in a supportive role that usually requires less formal training and/or experience than normally required for professional or technical status.
