Under the laws of the State of California, the County provides Workers' Compensation benefits for employees who suffer from a work-related injury or condition. The injury or illness must have arisen out of and in the course of employment to be considered for compensation. These benefits apply to all employees.

There are five major areas of Workers' Compensation:

  1. Medical treatment.
  2. Temporary disability.
  3. Permanent disability.
  4. Supplemental Job Displacement Voucher.
  5. Death benefits.

Temporary disability is paid at the rate of two-thirds of your salary subject to a statutory maximum of $840. This amount may be adjusted from time to time as specified in the California Labor Code. All pre-approved medical expenses are covered at 100%.
