Tuberculosis Exposure Control Program  Printer Friendly View

The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration (CAL-OSHA) and Title 8 California Code of Regulations requires mandatory skin testing of employees working in high risk work environments. CAL-OSHA Tuberculosis Guidelines requires surveillance influding annual skin testing to prevent the spread of infectious TB.

In keeping with that requirement the County of San Mateo developed the Tuberculosis Exposure Control Program. Included in the program are on-going employee medical surveillance program, an employee training program, and an on-going risk assessment to minimize the potential for occupationally-acquired TB infection.

Risk Management is responsible for administering annual skin testing and training. Annual testing is also provided by Workforce Medical.
