A Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allows employees to pay healthcare expenses with pre-tax dollars. Health Care includes medical, dental, vision and other preventive health expenses. For example, FSAs cover medical costs (prescription drug / office visit co-pays and deductibles) dental expenses (deductibles, co-pays and orthodontia) and vision costs (co-pays, contact lenses and laser surgery). Because these expenses are paid without federal, Social Security or state taxes, you can save an estimated $20-$40 on every $100 you elect to defer. Below are documents that will explain the program (Flexible Spending Account Participant Guide) and allow you to enroll, sign up for Direct Deposit, estimate your expenses, select a Smart-Flex debit card or obtain reimbursement for claims.
