Touchpoints Guiding Principles
The Prenatal to Three Initiative's underlying practice principles are based on pediatrician T. Berry Brazelton's Touchpoints concepts. Dr. Brazelton teaches that parents who are provided with a map of their child's behavioral and emotional development will be better equipped to handle the child's challenging growth spurts. With anticipatory guidance, parents can navigate through child-rearing challenges and emerge with a better understanding of their children. Pre-to-Three staff utilize the Touchpoints philosophy in their work with families to focus on parents' concerns and family strengths during times of growth and crisis.
