The Psychiatry Residency Training Program will be accepting applications for residents through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) developed ERAS to transmit residency applications, three letters of recommendation, Medical Student Performance Evaluation, transcripts, and other supporting credentials from applicants and medical schools to residency program directors using the Internet. The ERAS web site is: www.aamc.org/eras.
The Residency Selection Committee will review completed applications and contact qualified applicants to schedule an interview. Interviews days are Monday through Friday. If you receive an invitation to interview, please email us (essilva@co.sanmateo.ca.us) as soon as possible to arrange an interview date.
Your application will be considered complete when the following documents must be received by November 1, 2008:
-
an application and personal statement.
-
a curriculum vitae (The ERAS formatted CV is sufficient)
-
three letters of recommendation, two of which must be from psychiatrists who have observed your work with patients.
-
Medical school transcripts
-
Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
-
If you are an International Medical Graduate, a copy of ECFMG certificate, Evaluation Status Letter from the Medical Board of California, and ECFMG and Flex/USMLE exam scores. We will not review IMG's applications without these documents.
-
If you are currently or have previously been in a residency program, we require a letter of reference from your program director.
Directions to the Program
Take the Hillsdale Boulevard exit westbound from Highway 101. Proceed westward approximately a half mile to El Camino Real (immediately following the railroad underpass). Turn LEFT onto El Camino Real and drive south for three blocks to 39th Avenue. Turn RIGHT onto 39th Avenue and drive, past three blocks of houses, to the San Mateo Medical Center on your right. Do not park in the Emergency Room lot by the main entrance. Continue on 39th Avenue, pass the health center and follow the patient/visitor parking signs. You will be turning RIGHT on Hacienda. Park in the lot to your right. Enter the hospital through the West entrance and go down a corridor, about 50 paces, until you reach the single elevator to the left. If you reach the rotunda and the main hospital entrance, you have gone too far. Proceed up the elevator to the third floor and turn right upon leaving the elevator. Follow the signs to the Psychiatry Residency Training Program office.
