Alan K. Louie, M.D.
Director, Psychiatry Residency Training Program
 
Dr. Louie graduated from Harvard College and Harvard Medical School and then pursued an internship in internal medicine at Stanford University Hospital, his psychiatric residency at the University of Chicago, and a fellowship in Neuropsychopharmacology at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He then joined the faculty at UCSF where he is currently Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Director Emeritus of the Anxiety and Affective Disorders Consultation Program. Dr. Louie has been Acting Associate Director of Medical Student Education (Psychiatry) and Co-Director of the Brain, Mind, and Behavior course at UCSF.  Dr. Louie has also had an active private practice of psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. He is a Diplomate of and has been an Examiner for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His awards include the Physician Scientist Award from the National Institute of Mental Health, Distinguished Fellowship in the American Psychiatric Association, and the Special Recognition Award from the UCSF Association of Clinical Faculty. He has been listed in Best Doctors in America and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is Associate Editor of Academic Psychiatry, a journal devoted to psychiatric medical education. His research interests include neuropsychopharmacology, anxiety and affective disorders, adult attention deficit disorder, cultural psychiatry and medical education.

John L. Herbert, M.D.
Assistant Director, Psychiatry Residency Training Program and Medical Director, South County Mental Health Clinic

Dr. Herbert graduated from Gustavus Aldolphus College and the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed a psychiatric residency at San Mateo County Mental Health Services. He then joined the San Mateo County Mental Health Services and has served as the Assistant Director of the Psychiatry Residency, Medical Director of the South County Mental Health Clinic, and Acting Medical Director of San Mateo County Mental Health Services. He also teaches as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University, is a Clinical Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at the San Francisco General Hospital and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His awards include the George Ginsberg Charter Fellowship from the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training and the San Mateo County faculty award. His interests include the treatment of severe mental illness and administrative psychiatry.

Celia Moreno, M.D.
Medical Director, San Mateo County Mental Health Services

Dr. Moreno received her B.A. degree from Stanford University and her M.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and then completed her psychiatric residency at UCSF. She is currently Medical Director of San Mateo County Mental Health Services. For twelve years, she was Staff Psychiatrist and Clinical Coordinator of the Counseling and Psychological Services at the Cowell Student Health Center of Stanford University. She has also served as a staff or consulting psychiatrist at several San Francisco Bay Area organizations which treat underserved populations, including Highland Hospital, Richmond-Maxi Center, Rypins House and Carroll House, Cordilleras Mental Health Service, and San Francisco General Hospital. She has been Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCSF and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Her awards include the Gold Headed Cane Society and Alpha Omega Society memberships, both at UCSF, and a National Psychiatric Endowment Fund Fellowship. Her research interests include women's mental health, short-term psychotherapy, and administrative/public psychiatry.
