Commissioner Biographies
Dorothy Borbidge was appointed to the Commission in 2003. She is a member of both the CoA/CoD Legislative and Advocacy Committee and the Nutrition Committee. In her pastime, she likes to tutor and volunteer at Project Read.
Aurea Cruz was appointed to the Commission in 2006. She is a member of the Legislative & Advocacy Committee, Community-Based Continuum of Care Committee, the Liaison to the Commission on Disabilities, is the alternate to the Chair to attend the Paratransit Coordinating Council meetings and is an advisor at Self Help for the Elderly. She has a philosophy which she believes, "In youth there is strength, but in age there is wisdom."
Patricia Georges was appointed to the Commission in 2007. She is the Chair of the Community-Based Continuum of Care Commttee and a member of both the Executive Committee and the Adult Abuse Prevention Collaborative. Patricia is a retired Administrative law Judge for the California Department of Social Services. She has practical experience as a caregiver and case manager.
Antonio Mendoza was appointed to the Commission in 2007 and is a member of the Minority Elders Committee and Legislative Advocacy Committee. Tony is a retired accountant in Grants Management at the University of California San Francisco and is an advisor to the Asian-American Seniors Association, a non-profit organization in the Bay Area.
May Nichols was appointed to the Commission in 1999. She volunteers at the San Mateo Senior Peer Counseling Center, serves on the City of San Mateo Senior Citizen Commission, advisory Council of Senior Volunteer Services (RSVP) of Senior Focus, Mills-Peninsula Hospitals; Senior Forum; currently employed as service coordinator, Edgewater Isle (HIP Housing); retired Half Moon Bay postmaster; M.A. Clinical Gerontology.
Denis O'Sullivan was appointed to the Commission in 2007. Managing Partner, Sully Consutling, LLC; (www.sullyconsulting.com), Former member Board of Directors, HIP Housing; 40 years in management roles in high technology, retired.
Mary C. Pappas was appointed to the Commission in 2003. She worked in various capacities for and with seniors in San Mateo County since 1973; opened first full service information & referral center in the county (Senior Resources Center of City of San Mateo); Senior Services Coordinator for Catholic Social Services; administrator of Greenhills Retirement Center; started Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) in San Mateo County and is curretly the Program Specialist. She also serves on the Program Development and Human Resources Committee for Ombudsman of San Mateo County. She is also on the Advisory Committee of Senior Volunteer Services (RSVP) of Senior Focus, Mills-Peninsula Hospital; M.A.
Annie Sadler was appointed to the Commission in 2001. She currently is Vice-Chair and serves on the following committees: Minority Elders, CoA & CoD, Legislative & Advocacy, CoA/CoD Joint Housing, In-Home Supportive Services and SMC AIDS/HIV Advisory Board. In addition, she also serves on The African American Community Health Advisory Committee, SMC American Cancer Society Board, SMC Senior Forum and this year's "Seniors on the Move" Planning Committee.
Sue Scott was appointed to the Commission in 2007 and is a member of the Minority Elders & Legislative and Advocacy Committees. She has been a resident in San Mateo County for the past 30 years. Sue is a retired administrator from the Sequoia Union High School District with prior experience teaching seriously emotionally disturbed learning handicapped students at the secondary level.
Kevin Worth was appointed to the Commission in 2005 and is the Continuum Administrator for Kaiser Permanente San Mateo Area. Previously served as president of both the UCSF School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Horizons Foundation; has over 20 years of experience in clinical care and administrative positions in community health organizations and major medical centers; Kevin has been a registered nurse and clinical nurse specialist for over ten years.
