A national non profit organization developing and promoting policies and programs to protect children and strengthen families. Good source of information on child protection issues.

Connect for Kids
A website devoted to information on children's issues. Features a variety of topics related to kids and teens as well as programs and other methods of getting involved in your community.

National Clearing House on Child Abuse/Neglect Information
A national resource for professionals seeking information on the prevention, identification, and treatment of child abuse and neglect, and related child welfare issues.

San Francisco Bay Area Kids Need Homes
Each week, KPIX TV airs "Brian's Kids," a spot in which Channel 5 meteorologist Brian Sussman presents a news segment devoted to finding loving and nurturing families for children waiting to be adopted. The program currently airs during the Monday, noon news, and Wednesday, 5pm news. They also have a website with useful information about foster care and adoption, links to county agencies, and a directory of related sites.

Clara-Mateo Alliance provides shelter and supportive services to homeless individuals, couples and families to assist them in obtaining stable housing and self-sufficiency.


Human Investment Project (HIP Housing)
Human Investment Project (HIP Housing) is a non-profit organization that creates permanent housing solutions for over 1,000 persons in San Mateo County every year and assists an additional 1,500 with housing resources.

Shelter Network
Shelter Network is a non-profit organization that provides housing and services for homeless families and individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area.

MHA Mental Health Association of San Mateo County
The MHA's website offers information about programs and services, downloadable referral forms, activities calendars, links to other useful mental health sites, success stories, and how to become involved in our agency and our work in the community.
 

North Peninsula Neighborhood Services Center
This Services Center works toward improving the quality of life of the poor and disadvantaged residents of San Mateo County. NPNSC also strives to build a better understanding and communication between different racial, ethnic, religious, age, economic and social groups. Serves: South San Francisco, San Bruno, Brisbane.

Pacifica Resource Center
Serving the residents of Pacifica, Service Specialists provide crisis intervention and preliminary casework and counseling, in addition to the following: referrals to AFDC, food stamps, mental health, public health, Youth Employment Program, and emergency shelter; free clothing giveaway on the 1st and 15th of each month; Summer Jobs for Youth Program; emergency food; rental assistance; and free bread on Tuesdays after 10:30am. Serves: Pacifica, North of Devils Slide.

Samaritan House
Samaritan House is a non-profit organization providing a broad range of services - including food, clothing, shelter, furniture, education, and health care-dedicated to meeting the needs of low-income residents within central San Mateo County. American Bar Association Commission on Domestic Violence
Offers many resources such as emergency information, hotlines, research and policy information, attorney referral information, and more.

Arrests for Domestic Violence in CA 1998
This report contains 1998 information about persons arrested for the crime of domestic violence in California. The data include domestic violence arrests by gender, race and age. Data by county and cities with populations over 100,000 are available in the Appendices.

California Alliance Against Domestic Violence
The California Alliance Against Domestic Violence is a non-profit organization and a coalition representing the needs and interests of battered women and their children throughout the state of California.

Child Abuse Council of Santa Clara County
The Mission of the Child Abuse Council is to actively develop, support, and coordinate community efforts to prevent child abuse and heal its effects. The emphasis of these efforts is toward the low-income, ethnic and language minorities, the disabled and other members of the community who may have limited access to resources.

Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA)
CORA provides free and confidential services to victims and survivors of domestic/dating violence and abuse, including child and teen witnesses, in San Mateo County. Our services include a 24-hour hotline, support groups, legal services, emergency and transitional housing, and more, in English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
