Family Self-Sufficiency Teams (FSST)  Printer Friendly View

Family Self-Sufficiency Teams
Family Self-Sufficiency Teams (FSSTs) were developed as a way to coordinate and integrate Human Services Agency programs within the Agency and with partner programs and agencies in the local community. There are four Family Self-Sufficiency Teams located in San Mateo County. Each FSST is considered a Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) and comes together on a weekly or bi-monthly basis to enhance service delivery to families in the County.

There are a number of services available through the FSST that assist families and individuals to become independent and self-sufficient. Some of the service providers who are part of the MDT are Peninsula Works, Women's Enrichment Center Day Treatment, Housing, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Program, CORA, Mental Health, and Vocational Rehabilitation Services. An Extraordinary Circumstances Fund is available to assist families that are in crisis.

Family Self-Sufficiency Team members develop short- and long-term goals that lead to self-sufficiency and help meet the immediate needs of families and individuals. By meeting on a regular basis at specified times, services providers are accessible at one site, making it easier to assist families and eliminate costly duplication.
