There are two types of funding for subsidized child care, one funded by the State of California and the other by the federal government.

GAPP (General Alternative Payment Program)

The State Department of Education provides State subsidized child care funding for families whose income is at or below 75% of the state median income.

FAPP (Federal Alternative Payment Program)

The Federal Government provides subsidized child care funding for families whose income is at or below 75% of the state median income.

Families can continue to be subsidized until their income exceeds the limit, as long as they meet other criteria and their children do not exceed twelve years of age. Families who qualify may pay a fee depending on their total household gross income.
