Disease Control and Prevention
Disease Control and Prevention (DCP) is part of the Public Health Division of the San Mateo County Health Department. The unit is a collection of health professionals including infection control and public health nurses, communicable disease investigators, epidemiologists, community workers, physicians and administrative staff. DCP core functions are to:
- Maintain surveillance of all cases of infectious disease in San Mateo County
- Investigate and follow-up reported diseases to ensure that treatment has been obtained and to prevent secondary cases
- Provide education and training on infectious diseases and preventative measures

DCP staff also provide information and respond to questions from people in the community.
